Today we get our chickens! More on this later...

EDITED TO ADD PICTURES!!
We were informed this morning that our Americauna Chicks had hatched and were ready to come home with us. We purchased Americauna Chicks because they are a good dual breed chicken (this means they are good for laying eggs and tasty to boot), but unlike your traditional chicken, ours will lay eggs in various shades of blue and green. Fun!

Anyhow, I had a prior engagement (lunch with my brother), so Nick took Nathan and Nia to get our chicks. Lottie went with Kyle and me to lunch.

When we got
home (this being the lunch crew) we found:
We are all just a little **extra** taken with this yellow chick. This is the only yellow one. He is our rooster.

Lottie seemed to like the chickens as well. (Notice the car seat--it's the same old one that I've had forever. I got tired of the blue plaid, so I went ahead and redid it.)
Nathan all but squeezes the little things to death when he holds them.

Nia--she kisses everything!
This, to my mind, is classic Nathan.

On an unrelated note:

A few weeks ago I became acquainted with an organization called 'Pass It On, Baby!' This is a group, composed of Moms, that blesses young families with their gently used clothing. If you know a new (or newer) Mom who could use a blessing in this form, I recommend you send them to PIO, B!'s website (passitonbaby.blogspot.com). Now I'm on the receiving end, but I cannot WAIT to be on the giving end. It's so fun!

That being said, yesterday I received a box in the mail. The clothes inside were primarily for Lottie. In fact, the outfit that she is wearing in today's picture came in that box. BUT, I was particularly delighted to find these jeans that just fit Nia. Aren't they darling?

("And I said to myself, "What a wonderful world!")
