They say that miracles happen every day. Today is the sort of day that makes me a believer. First, my brother Kyle walked across a stage today and was handed a High School Diploma. I pinched myself several times to make sure this was not a dream or strange hallucination. Perhaps I was envisioning his blue-robed glory complete with tassel and handshakes. The handshakes, I believe, were mutual statements of relief. You could almost read the superintendent's lips as he whispered words of congratulations to the various graduates...then came Kyle. I'm not a certified lip-reader, but am quite certain I saw the word 'phew' escape his lips. A real miracle before my eyes. Pictures were taken to ensure we never forgot this moment. Hooray!
Next, my parents received an offer on their second home. The house has been for sale a long time now and has sat vacant...waiting on Michigan's economy to improve and bring in the potential home buyers. Well, the market did not improve, but the house struck someone's fancy, and so the process of working out a deal has begun. This added elation to what was already a quite joyous household. Two big blessings in one day!
Nathan and I are about 10 days away from making our return trip to Houston. I'm getting anxious to see Nicolas. "There's no place like home." Nathan has had a wonderful time playing with his Grandpa and Grandma, racing through their house, eating from their candy jar, playing in their soft grass (which, in Michigan, is free of fire ants!), and charming the good folks of Grand Rapids. Grandma has ensured that he has a steady supply of Ice Cream, Fudgesicles, Hershey's Kisses, Coca Cola, and chocolate chip cookies. Grandpa has bravely started ball games with Nathan. As I mentioned in a previous post, this is not without its dangers. Kyle has tolerated the little toddler, primarily by making a commitment to avoiding him regularly. I, on the other hand, have taken every opportunity to do things like sit down and read. It has been wonderful! But, alas, we miss are missing Daddy...
We are busy loving him--even from Michigan!
