A little glimpse of Nathan:

This was yesterday night after Nathan's bath. He understands about bedtime, and has adopted a habit of suggesting every activity he can think of to delay the inevitable. "Colors?" he says while shoving his bag of crayons in my direction. "Book?" the scenario replays with a small Dr. Seuss book. "Posies, Posies?" he asks while grabbing for my hand: this suggests starting countless refrains of 'Ring Around the Rosies.' The list goes on and on...

"Nathan, are you sleepy?" Nick poses this question every night. Every night the answer is the same: NO. "You are?" Nick replies. Yesterday I said to Nick that surely his son must wonder why Daddy loses his ability to understand the difference between 'yes' and 'no' at this time of night. Why bother asking Nathan if he's tired? The answer will not be 'yes' any night in the near future.

As of 10AM this morning, we will have officially liquidated our TV, DVD player, and all our DVDs (with the exception of two Christian DVDs for kids which we will save so that on long road trips Nathan can watch them on Daddy's IPOD.) On Monday night a woman and her elementary-aged son can to pick-up and purchase the TV and DVD player. The mom, Jennifer, said she was shocked that anyone with children would get rid of a TV. I just explained that our family had decided TV was a waste of time. She wholeheartedly agreed but said she was just too exhausted NOT to have a couple sets. Her son jumped right in and boasted that this TV set was going in his room. I just smiled. Poor Mr. Nathan--I'm afraid he won't ever have his own personal television. What a deprived child we are raising!

I'm delighted to find myself in the month of August. Nia Madelynn is scheduled to be born (naturally, but with the encouragement of induction) on August 30th. I'd be fine with her coming before then, too. My back is aching and bending over has become next to impossible. The end of August will also bring a visit from my Dad and Mom, which will be immediately followed by a September visit from Dad and Mom Jones. I'm just itching to use some of the beautiful baby girl clothes that are in the closet. And, it will be fun to hold a newborn again. Nathan is really too wiggly to be held much these days. Anyway, I have work to do before Nathan wakes up, but wanted to share last night's video clip with everyone!
