I am blessed by you...
Before I type what is on my mind, I'd like to give credit where credit is due: I didn't take this picture. I stole it from Mom Jones' blog. Thanks, Mom! (I don't think she'll mind.)

Do you see our family? Now there are four of us. Two boys and two girls: the score is even! I am blessed to have two healthy children. Nathan, my 'big boy', is the spittin' image of his Daddy. He is full of personality--he interacts with us all day long. He 'helps' around the house, assists with cooking and baking, colors, listens to dozens of books, chases the cat, kisses his sister, plays ball (yes, indoors!), etc. etc. etc. Until it is time to sleep, the busy toddler doesn't stop. Neither does his Mom. He is healthy, smart, and bubbly. I am so blessed to have him.

Nia is two weeks old now. I hear her whining for Daddy to hold her as I write this. 7 pounds of baby: Infinite joy. Nia looks vastly different from Nathan. I adore watching her expressions as she sleeps. I wonder if she dreams. I cannot wait to learn more about her. I cannot wait to hear her speak, see her walk, and hold her hand as it grows. She is worth several midnight feedings, dozens of daily diaper changes, and stubborn burping sessions. I am so blessed to have her.

But, my biggest blessing is significantly larger than the other two (literally). My biggest blessing is Daddy to my pint-sized blessings. Nick's contribution to our two children goes far beyond DNA. Nick is not a distant, uninvolved, distracted Dad. Nick is a hide-and-seek Dad. A diaper changing Dad. A crisis management Dad. A supper cooking Dad. A time-out-enforcing Dad. A swim-lesson Dad. A bath time Dad. A coloring Dad. A ball-playing Dad. A onesie-changing Dad. A hand holding Dad. A sandcastle building Dad. An ice cream buying Dad. A lets-go-camping Dad. A tickle-tickle-tickle Dad. A kissing Dad. An awesome Dad. The kind of Dad that my children will grow to call a blessing. And having a husband who is that kind of Dad is a blessing to this wife. My biggest blessing.

I would draw out the accolades further and shower roses upon Nick's head, but Nia Madelynn is really talking up a storm. Maybe she could use a little loving from her Mommy.

I couldn't agree more, Rachel -- but I happen to think you are very special too: immensely creative, hard-working, intelligent, organized, determined -- all of these things make for a good mom and wife -- so kudo's to you as well! :)

Nick is a blessing and I know you are such a blessing to him too. I'm so glad that you two found each other.
