One Starbucks store in the Houston vicinity is donating LOTS of coffee to the men and women who served in the United States armed forces. Whose store? Nick's! For the past week they have offered customers the opportunity to purchase a pound of coffee and personalize it with a note...the coffee would then be donated to the military. The response was overwhelming and resulted in the sale of literally hundreds of bags of coffee! Here is a picture of the coffee that was personalized with notes. We have at least that much coffee that was donated but not personalized:

Here are half-pound bags that people wrote notes on. These bags will be sent to the troops to show encouragement. However, the coffee represented by these half-pound bags will be sent in pound-bag form in order to preserve freshness! =)

I snapped pictures of some various notes that people had written. Lots of the bags share similar sentiments.

In case you have trouble reading this next one, it says: "Hang in there, I know it is rough. I've been there."

I love this--Freedom is certainly NOT FREE!

This one is a bit tricky to read, too. It says: "Thank you for who you are and what you stand for."

A less sentimental note from some TRUE coffee lovers:

The man who wrote this bag literally began to cry as he did so. "A former vet. I am very proud of all of you."

My brother is now a 'military man' himself, and so some of this Starbucks will be headed his way! We are just waiting a few more days to figure out exactly where he will be stationed. We personally support our troops, too. I think Nick has proven his genius, once again, as he has managed to sell mass quantities of mud-like coffee (I mean, really GREAT coffee) to people who won't drink it, but would
happily (over)pay 15.00 for a pound to support the troops! I guess the troops are worth 15...but coffee??
Hmm. A good marketing ploy, Nick!
