In light of the rather LONG amount of time that has passed since my last post, this is going to be newsy, picture-less, get-everybody-back-up-to-speedish.
Two weeks ago our family relocated from Houston to San Antonio, TX. Nick was offered a job with a company called Which Wich. (If you have one of these near you, you'll want to stop in and order a sandwich...they're great!) Which Wich is a specialty sandwich shop. It's something like a trendy Quizno's: picture stainless steel, bright yellow and black, polished cement floors, etc. You get the idea. Nick has been working as the manager for the San Antonio Which Wich's for two weeks. The employees are experiencing culture shock ('What do you mean when you say "comply with dress code"?'). Some of them experienced it for a much shorter time period than others...not of their own accord.
We are renting a two-bedroom apartment that is just minutes from one of the stores Nick manages. We have our boxes all unpacked and are pretty settled. Before we moved we decided to do a mass simplification. We held a huge garage sale and practically gave away "stuff." Isn't is strange how much unnecessary junk can accumulate? Well, having cleared out the unneeded we are in good shape here in SA. Nick is working massive amounts of hours--something that we expected when he took the job. This high-volume work load will reduce in a couple of weeks and we will all be relieved!
Nathan has stopped taking naps almost entirely. I use the couple of hours when Nia rests to focus on Nathan. I have a toddler curriculum that I have compiled using my own ideas and other resources. We have 'lesson plans' that we go through each week. This includes a Bible story and verse for the week, a theme (this week is apples), crafts, activities, etc. Each week we touch on counting, letters, and controlled motor skills. Nathan loves it!
Nia is just steps (ha ha ha!) away from walking. She can stand on her own and can occasionally take one step without falling. She desperately wants to walk, err, run! She is a Daddy's girl and, although kids go through stages, she has his personality at the moment: fearless, curious, can't-sit-still. She doesn't like listening to books. She loves knocking things over, climbing on things, and eating. =)
Lixon never stops moving. That is really all we can say about him/her.
When Nick's schedule becomes more consistent and allows for exploring and fun activities, we'll take some pictures and post them on the blog. For now, I think that leaves everyone in the loop. Off to spend some rare time with Nicolas!

I'm so glad to hear all the news Rachel! I love to read your posts and have been missing them so much but also knew that you guys are really busy with the move and the job change. I am so glad to hear everything is going so well! Can't wait to try to get together with you all when things settle down more for you since we are so much closer now.
Hey Rachel- what size in Nia now? Karis has a few hand-me-downs available but I'm not sure that they will work for you. Let me know quick please.
