This is a random spattering of pictures from the last couple months. I'll include a little dialogue, but for the most part this is the blog result of waiting a long time to load pictures onto my computer! Lottie helped me choose the pictures this morning, but she became discouraged that so few included her. I have assured her that starting Tuesday she will be the camera's only target. This pleased her greatly. Alright, without further ado:
Nia Madelynn on her 1st birthday. We went to a place called the Kiddie Park. It features tons of old fairground rides. She is waiting in a chair for Nathan to finish riding on one of the rides that she was too small to enjoy.
The kids got to ride together on this one. It was really cute but exceptionally loud. I was surprised the kids handled it so well. I thought the noise was horrific!
Nia on our trip to the pumpkin patch. I was bent on taking the kids, but I was quite pregnant and tired/uncomfortable. Nick insisted I wait until he could come along. A wise husband. I was so tired by the end that Nick had to pull the car up to get me! Anyway, I bought two apples (one for me and one for Nia...but, that plan fell through!).
When Grandpa and Grandma Jones came to visit, we went to a great park in downtown San Antone. I'm not sure if this was meant to be used as a drum, but it worked! Nathan really got into playing percussion.
At the children's museum they have this old trolley right up front. Nathan loves being able to climb into vehicles. He enjoys 'driving' them.
Back at the pumpkin patch. We didn't go twice, I'm just not taking the time to organize these pics! Nathan wanted so much to pick up one of the huge pumpkins. He ended up rolling it around. At one point he was examining the prize-winning sized pumpkins (you know, hundreds of pounds) and asked Nick to please pick one up.
Nia enjoyed playing on the paths made of hay. She looked like a miniature scarecrow by the time we went home.
Oh, more of the drum.
This is at the Transportation Museum. They had all sorts of old cars/firetrucks/carriages, etc. Truth be told, this is not my kind of Museum at all, but the men in the family (Grandpa J, Daddy, and Nathan) enjoyed themselves quite immensely.
Drinking 'fresh' apple cider from the orchard. Texans only think they know how to make apple cider. Michigan cider puts Lone Star cider to shame!
Nia at the Children's Museum. She became quite attached to this little armadillo and it made the rounds with us through the various exhibits. We discreetly left it at the museum.
MY hospital bed. I got really tired of sitting in the bed and had moved to the chair. Nathan loved pushing the buttons and making the bed move. I'm sure our family was a hospital's worst nightmare, but, oh well!
And, last but not least, here is Lottie napping with Daddy. She and her Dad have the same haircut. I think she is going to look a lot like her Grandma Nia: something in the eyes and profile reminds me so much of the pictures I've seen of Nia. Nick felt quite disconcerted by this: Should he switch our Nia's name to Lottie and vice versa? I told him I really thought it would be okay just the way it was! Besides, I'm only guessing. Kids change so much--go through so many different phases. Anyway, I think she is beautiful!

This is so wierd because just late yesterday I was rummaging through some very old pictures and came across one of Nia Ann at a year old and it crossed my mind at the time how very much Nia Madelynn resembled her ... something about her facial expression, the shape of her face, her mouth, etc. I'll have to try to e-mail you that picture and see if you agree. I even mentioned it to Sabrina on the phone last night!
The children look great, especially the picture of Lottie sleeping with Daddy Nick. I remember those days and that is the best of times.
Lottie is beautiful! Thanks for all pictures- I especially loved seeing all the pictures of Nia in Karis's old clothes. Great pictures! Can't wait to see more of little LOttie.
