Here is Nathan 'sailing' his boat. Today Nick and I created a 'working' sail for the boat. When you hoist it into place, it creates a private fort where Nathan can play. The USS Nathan is still a work in progress. I have purchased some paint and intend to add more touches at a later time, but due to popular demand am posting some pictures of the progress. Please forgive the quality of these photographs...they were taken on Nathan's Fisher Price camera and aren't quite up to par with your average studio portrait. Nonetheless, I think they will help show what we've been up to.
Nick worked really hard to create a boardwalk-style ramp that Nathan could use to get into the bed. This next picture, although a little hard to decipher and at an interesting angle, shows the boardwalk. Nathan, by the way, thinks that this boardwalk has about the excitement equivalent of a trip to Cedar Point. He LOVES to slide down the ramp while saying, "Wheeeee!"

Here is the best shot of the whole boat that I could get. It is shown, of course, with the sail up. You can see the railings that are our attempt to keep Nathan in (the little Monkey doesn't always cooperate!). You can also see how Nick set the mattress down into the boat--a perfect fit! Nathan seems to love his new bed, and today I commented that he has the "coolest bed in the house."

On a completely different note, I had an appointment with the ObGyn this afternoon. The baby's heartbeat was clipping right along, and I have gained weight (albeit measley). I can go anytime to get an ultrasound done to determine if we will be having a Nia or a Nolan. We'll keep everyone posted.

Wow! You guys are completely creative and resourceful -- what a great bed for Nathan! I'm so glad Nick's boat, that was so valuable to him, could continue to "live." The pictures are great! I would never have known they were taken with a Fisher Price camera!

P.S. Thanks for your help with blogging!
The boat bed looks very good. I'm sure that Nick and Nathan like it.
When do you plan to introduce Nathan to the joy of TRAINS.
I love the pictures of the bed! How cute is it! And the photos are all great, you would never know that they are with a Fischer Price camera- in fact, it takes such a great picture it rivals a higher priced camera in quality. I love the bed, what a wonderful way to reinvent Father Time and keep it in the family!
