Today was the first doctor's appointment for baby #3 (aka Nixon or Lottie). For those who are suddenly struck with confusion, thinking to themselves, "Weren't they going to name a boy 'Nolan'?"--yes, that is what I originally said (though I edited the post). I had my heart set on Nixon, a name which literally means 'son of Nick', but worried that people would always think that we named him after Richard Nixon. I decided I didn't care. There are probably a lot of people with my name that I don't want to emulate. And I don't want to name every child Jesus in hopes that they will live 'up to the name.' So Nixon it is.

If it is a boy.

But, aside from all the remaining unknowns, here is what today helped establish:

1. I really am pregnant.
2. We aren't having more than one!
3. Baby Nixon or Lottie has a heartbeat.
4. Baby's due date is 11/23, but my doc will be happy to consider induction up to two weeks before that date if the pregnancy is uncomplicated. Woo-hoo!
5. The baby has blue eyes. (OK, so they didn't really SEE this, but I don't foresee any other color...do you?)

Well, the evening awaits...time to play with kiddos #1 and #2. Maybe we'll try out Aunt Sabrina's recipe for play dough...

Oh, my Mom loves the name Lottie Caroline and thus has just the slightest preference for a girl. Mom, my Doc's office is right off of Caroline St.--perhaps this is not merely coincidental??! Haha!

Good for you ... Nixon is a very fine name ... I like it very much and I am from the generation who was pretty distraught with Richard too! I think it is a perfect name for a son of Nick ~ very nice. Lottie Caroline is good too being that it has a lot of meaning for you and your family. The end of November will arrive very quickly. Glad all looks well with #3 :)
